usability testing [hci, human factor design, user-centered design]
beginning with his first cd-rom project, back in 1996 [Road Construction Ahead], peter has been gaining experience in the art of usability testing and assessment, but his real leap forward came while working with Icon MediaLab. as a senior information architect at Icon, peter was introduced to the hci discipline [human computer interaction], whose sole purpose is to study, measure, and assess how people interact with computer-based products, from an independent perspective. peter worked closely with the two senior members of the hci team; learning, collaborating, and participating in usability sessions. as a result, he gained an appreciation for the role of usability engineering, and since then he has been applying those skills to collect accurate, scientific data for his projects.
